Thanks everyone for the really great advice! Looks like I'll definitely be going with the Koni or Bilstein shocks.
What about going the full airbag setup? Worth it?
Cheers,
Chris
They've been around since the late 70's.
I'd ring them and discuss what you're after, then have a think about it.
They used to be the deCarbon importer, then decided they could do it better so set up their own manufacturing and development here in their own factory.
deCarbon invented the mono-tube damper. Bilstein popularised it.
Put it another way, if we all bought what was popular and what everyone else recommended we'd all be driving Toyota's.
I was involved in the testing of the Ultimate Suspension in the Territory in the 1980s we used a 60 Series Land Cruiser that ran on dirt roads at up to 160 km/h it was very well done.
If they progressed over the years from what they were they will be exceptional not sure who owns it now but its the first on my list for Australian suspension suppliers.
AFAIK Ken O'Keefe still owns it, his son Brendan writes suspension articles for Loaded 4x4 and wrote a recent article on GVM upgrades.

Well worth it. I have had the Full Air Bag setup with in cab controller for 8-9 years now on the back of my 130 , carries the weight well and when unloaded air down for a smooth ride. Has also helped level the 130 on a cross slope or when stopped and camping.
Cheers
