Dealing with screw holes in body work from extended flares.

As the title suggests, I'm considering what to do about the screw holes in the panels that will be left after the removal of extended flares..

Wanting a more traditional look and fitting a narrower tire. But will fit new wheels (wolf) and tyres 255/85 first, perhaps they will look fine but I suspect I'll want to put standard flares with the new combo.

What about the guards, wouldn't they be cut to suit the wider tyres?

There were these little plastic plugs that were used to fill the holes in utes where the "cotton reels" for the tonneau loops attached - when removed. Especially for Falcons IIRC. Paint the heads and just pop them in. Haven't seen them around recently but would like some to cover some rego plate holes in the tailgate of my D1 (smaller plate now fitted due to ladder). Anyone else know of those? I reckon they'd work a treat.

Seems there is only a few ways to tackle this.

Weld it then paint it. HARD!
Plug the holes with bungs or rivets. UGLY!
Replace panels you can and paint. Leaves the back still with holes. HALFASSED.
Put flares back on. YAY! FTW.

What about using some of that narly bog thats got stainless fibres in it? Put that on the inside of the holes will fill them. Still ugly but i guess you could then try dob paint after filled.......

All rather ****ty ways of doing it though.

Never thought about the side effect or fitting flares as flares look the business.
