2000 TD5 Temperature Gauge not working

					Hi All

My Temperature Gauge in my Defender has stopped working. Sometimes if you turn the key to the ignition position with the engine warm the guage will work but after start it sits just below cold. Is there a simple fix for this.

 Cheers

 Steve

I had a similar issue last year.

First easy step is to check the integrity of wiring to the temp sensor and give the sensor connector a good clean with contact cleaner.

If that doesn’t fix things plug a nanocom in and see what it’s reading the temperature as in the instrument panel. If it’s dead then I’d be looking at a dead/dicky sensor.

Beyond that I’m outside of my personal experience zone so will l leave those more experienced to comment.

 Cheers Steve

					Hi Steve

Thanks for the reply I haven't had the chance to look at it today but I have some spare time tomorrow while my son learns how to sail so I'll have a poke around and get back to the forum with the results. so I'll have a poke around and get back to the forum with the results.

					Hi all.

Had a poke around under the bonnet and it turns out it's the plug to the sensor. The casing around it's a bit damaged and therefore it's not making contact properly. I fiddled with it a bit and it now works but I think I'll have to look for a more permanent solution.
