Thread: 2000 TD5 Temperature Gauge not working

I had a similar issue last year.

First easy step is to check the integrity of wiring to the temp sensor and give the sensor connector a good clean with contact cleaner.

If that doesn’t fix things plug a nanocom in and see what it’s reading the temperature as in the instrument panel. If it’s dead then I’d be looking at a dead/dicky sensor.

Beyond that I’m outside of my personal experience zone so will l leave those more experienced to comment.

Thanks for the reply I haven't had the chance to look at it today but I have some spare time tomorrow while my son learns how to sail so I'll have a poke around and get back to the forum with the results.

Hi all.

Had a poke around under the bonnet and it turns out it's the plug to the sensor. The casing around it's a bit damaged and therefore it's not making contact properly. I fiddled with it a bit and it now works but I think I'll have to look for a more permanent solution.
