LT95A components into LT230 TC with 6x6 output?

    Hey guys,

So i know its possible for the LT95 and LT230 transfer case components to be interchanged despite the taper roller bearing in my lt95a, but I am wanting to know if its possible to put all the gearing, including the 6x6 drive gears, into an LT320 housing?

Im looking at an auto conversion for my 6x6 and looking at other options to cutting my casing up.

    TIA

The short answer is a big NO. The only component from the LT95 that will fit in the LT230 is the cross shaft and gears in the centre differential assembly. The only solution is to cut the LT95 transfer off the gearbox and mate it up that way - that rear axle drive unit will only fit the LT95. Keep us posted on the auto conversion, what auto box are you looking at? Sheldon from COR conversions has done this and another bloke is Justin Cooper from Tassie. You need a decent auto to stand up to the Isuzu and it's torque pulses.

The way that the gearing works in an LT95 is completely different to an LT230. It is impossible for any gears to interchange. And there is no way to get output speed from the PTO on an LT230 because of the completely different way the power flows.

If you go onto the Cor Conversions facebook page you will see the 6x6 Sheldon is currently converting to 4hk1 and Aisan 6 speed auto i think it is.

I cut the back end off an LT 95 and mated it to a Turbo 700 behind a Chev 6.2 diesel It broke twice so next I tried a 4l80E box it was OK but despite 2 oil coolers kept boiling the oil.
Gave autos away and put in a MSA Isuzu still behind the V8 diesel with the LT95 Tbox for 6x6.
    Its still going strong.
Admittedly mine is a bit bigger and heavier than the average Perentie 6x6.
