I saw a Defender single cab fire tender in a shed at Windy Harbour not that many years ago, maybe 4/5. There's probably a good few around still doing the job without fuss.
I doubt they clock up many miles either.

Last night I spotted a Defender 130 duel cab Fire & Rescue vehicle still in service.
*Its was Red (white top) with Gov plates so its Western Australia Fire & Rescue.
*Missed the station markings so dont know where its based.
*heading away from the city down Orrong Rd.
*I was on foot so I couldnt chase after it (or I would have).
*Too many beers to think about getting a pic!
*Was following behind what looked like a Isuzu 4x4 tender (which was also red).
I had thought the days of fire truck Defenders was all but gone.

Daz

The local council has a 130 setup as a spray rig.
Herbicide tank, boom and Quick Spray reels.
I'm really surprised, I would've thought an air bag equipped vehicle would be required in this day and age?
Enforcement of rules probably varies with locality (and how many fires there have been). It is unlikely that anyone in the bureaucracy is actually checking.
Not WA, but only about a dozen years or so since our local brigade was using an ex-army Inter, and that only went when it got hard to find parts.

About five years ago I saw a 130 in use with the Morgan (Riverland S.A.) CFS. At least I think it was a 130. It could have been a 110. I can't remember if it was a double or single cab. It didn't look particularly new. I seem to remember it being a 300tdi.
