Mine started rattling again on Saturday, I took tact's advice, stopped and spun the little roller and hey presto! squeak gone (for a while anyway), so I'll tighten up the strike plates when I get a chance.

Now who's going to tell me how to get rid of the clutch pedal squeak..?

Also, what's the loud springy "BOING" noise from the drivers footwell when I hit the pothole at the end of my driveway every morining? Something to do with the brakes I assume?

There is a writeup somewhere if you do a search, the short version is remove the clutch pedal assembly strip and rebuild.

There is also 50 million "fixes" that work for some, others and not always.

OR do what most Defender owners do.... tune out that particular noise coming from your Defender

My clutch pedal on the Puma has just started squeaking... time for a lube me thinks.

I also fixed an annoying rattle coming from the drivers B pillar, just by loosening and re-tightening my roofrack clamps. The roof obviously needed just a little more flex

It's the creaking and groaning of the body flexing when crossed-up over large gutters that freaks my mates out! Normal suppleness for a Defender I say. They can't believe it.

Remember, if it bends, it's less likely to break.
I remember when a kid on the farm our mailbox was on a wobbly post. A big flood came through and inundated everything, sweeping away trees, fences, a bridge etc. When the water went down, the wobbly mailbox was still there.
    Flexibility is the key.

Yes, that bloody clutch pedal squeak.

I opened the 6 or 8 screws on the the clutch linkage inspection plate and sprayed Inox into to it (very liberally - sorry Tony)

It didnt fix the squeak initially, but after a few days, the squeak was gone and didnt come back (3 weeks now).

    Amazing
