I hope they release it with 2.0, 3.0 and 4.4 diesels and a petrol V8, plus a hybrid or electric. They have the engines, so it makes sense to use them.

It’ll be just 2.0 and electric.......versions available......with way less payload.

My next vehicle will be an EV/Hybrid. Maybe a hybrid Defender. Maybe an EV Defender.

Land Rover have said all vehicles after 2020 will be EV / Hybrid. It’s unlikely they will release a range of Diesel engines in the next Defender.

I expect my 2014 Puma to last at least another 10 years. Most vehicles will be EV /Hybrid by 2030. As such I don’t see any need to buy another diesel Defender.

I've got two balls, neither of which is crystal, but I reckon in a few years EV vehicles will be the rule not the exception. There's a lot of benefits and the main drawback being range, which will surely be conquered soon enough.

Torque, simplicity, less noise! When the td5 in mine gives up I'm really considering a conversion. Good thing about the 130 is plenty of room for batteries lol

We’re definitely coming to the end of an era. It was inevitable given the effect we’ve had on the environment and the technological age we live in. ICE engines’ days have been numbered for a while and now the tech is almost there.

As far as HD 4x4 vehicles go its clearly also the end of an era. This makes me sad too. I’m starting to feel like a dinosaur for valuing the bush life.

High-tech urbanity will be just about everywhere soon. The pleasure of ‘being out of range’ only lasted 20 years.

Tinkering in the shed has almost become programming in the cloud.

It’s only a matter of time before the Tojo 70 goes the way of the Defender.

I think that battery manufacture and importantly disposal needs to make some huge forward steps to avoid toxic waste and chemicals polluting the environment at a higher and more poisonous level than fossil fuels.. more EV and hybrid vehicles on the road will spell some pretty horrible future problems with this. Batteries are highly polluting. The only way to 'save the planet ' is just not to own a car , of any description....
The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

Yes we’re definitely not out of the woods (pun intended) concerning environmental issues by going EV. Not least in terms of power production and battery recycling.
...But the idea of any of us doing without a vehicle?

Hydro, wind, solar + battery recycling...we’re on the way.

I could be wrong (it happens - occasionally) but I don't think JLR said all its vehicles would only be electric, didn't they say there would be EV versions of all their vehicles? So the other engines would remain available.
JLR just announced a first quarter loss of 250 million pounds, so their backs are against the wall.
