    70th Anniv. V8 Defender.

Just seen a new 70th Anniversary Defender V8 listed in the U.K. at Two Hundred & Twenty Five Thousand POUNDS, around $410K Aussie!
I think they made 150 of these, which were pretty much all pre sold. 0-100ks in 5.6 sec in a Defender would be pretty good imho!

There would be a few LS converted defers in Aus for a fraction of the price.

Just imagine the money LR would have made if they had something like this new years ago.

I do not know why - they are actually 2012/2013 model Defenders that have been rebuilt to 70th Anniversary Spec - this is because "new" Defenders cannot be sold in Europe in 2018 as they do not meet a whole range of requirements (noting this was part of the reason Defender production stopped). So when you buy a "new" 70th Annivers model you are actually buying a 2012/13 model that has been refurbished/rebuilt to the required specs - there is nothing in the VINs that show it as a 2018 model but reflect the original build date.

That was how LR got around the rules that stopped LR building new Defenders from about the end 2016.

So really I do not know why they could not be sold here as they only have to meet the ADrs appropriate to the original build dates - and being modified by the original manufacturer Aust engineering is not required.

The Nene Overland conversion is only $60,000 odd installed and looks better than the Land Rover 5.0L version IMO

...what a perfect road trip! - spend the balance of the $212,000 on driving to and from the UK via Asia and Africa! Drive in with a TDCI and drive out with 6.2 V8!! ...now that's almost worth selling the house for!

I reckon they'll be doing hot EV conversions too in the not to distant future.
