Thread: 110 (Not Defender) gauge modifications for V8 install - water temp and fuel

Hi, I'm rebuilding a 1989 110 (ie it is not badged as a "Defender") .
I've kept the original dashboard gauges so far.
The old 3.5 carb V8 and LT85 has been replaced with a 93 3.9 Disco V8 EFI with an auto box.
I managed to shoehorn the Disco fuel tank into the rear end complete with the EFI fuel pump and gauge sender gizmo.
All the old 110 wiring has gone - now replaced with a Disco loom.
Without any engine running tests so far, the electrical tests show:

1. The water temp gauge goes to full scale when ignition turned on.
The gauge is marked Lucas 41852101 and it has a sticker with 5188. (unlike the other gauges which have PRC numbers on them)
Searches show this gauge to be a 24V item (!) but it was the original gauge fitted.
Anyway, the V8 sender is PR8003 (blue collar with red dot) as fitted with the Disco V8
I've tested the sender in hot water and it works.
After many GoogleHours it looks like I should be using sender PRC2506 (to suit V8 carb Defenders)
Anybody else here had the same problem?

2. Fuel gauge
The old 110 fuel tank sender had a 'low fuel' connection to a warning lamp. The V8 system doesn't. Not a worry for me.
But with just 20 litres in the tank (about 1/4 full) , the 1989 110 dashboard fuel gauge PRC3017 is showing 'Full" .
Is there a 110 or Defender gauge which suits the Disco/RR/EFI V8 tank sender?
My truck would almost be a NAS 110 but there's precious little out there about the LR parts used.

Experienced this problem when I replaced the 2,5 petrol engine on my 1989 Land Rover 110 with a V8, I had to change the temperature sender to match the temperature gauge.
Did the same when I replaced the original Gauge with a VDO model.

As for the fuel gauge, I am not sure if the same pairing method is also applicable.

This is exactly the problem I am finding.
Of course, no-one expected LR owners would want to swap and match engines senders and gauges so many years after building!
For the record and anyone coming across this post later:
There is nothing online from LR or anyone else showing which temp senders match the gauges fitted to various models when you are swapping engines/wiring.
You'll just have to do trial and error stuff.
I wanted PRC2056 (V8 without air con) but a local supplier only had PRC6317 (V8 with aircon).
This PRC6317 did not work with my 1989 V8 3.5 carb gauge (no air con)
Changing to VDO gauges sounds good but they sometimes need their own senders and special wiring.
I'll order PRC2056 from someone in the UK and see if it works.
