Using third row seat captive nuts (in 5 seat Puma 110)

Hi all, I’m redoing my rear storage and want to use the existing captive nuts that are used for the third row seats as a fixing point. The nuts exist in the wheel arch but there are no holes into the rear load area. Has anyone drilled them out?

    Thanks,

    Darren

Yep, Just drill them out from under the wheel arch using a smaller drill bit and use a reaming bit from the inside to carefully take it out to the size of the bolt required.

yes, i've drilled the 4 out on one side. drill 6.5 through from the rear. (6.8 if you have it) and then run an M8 tap through from the rear.

Thanks fatnold, why did you re-tap the thread? Or does that start the thread in the aluminium?

to run the thread through the sheet metal metal so a bolt can be started from inside. alternatively you could drill out clearance in the sheet metal carefully from the inside with a 8mm drill. ( careful you don't accidentally/ inadvertently drill out the thread completely if the drill bites) :-0

Drilled out 6 on the weekend and only stuffed up 1! Easy fix, just drilled it out and put a bolt on the other side.
