After trying a number of different ways to move the lock lever down to the open position the guys at the local Land Rover indi wracked it with a hammer which managed to unlock it. Not able to relock as the mechanism had disintegrated so a simple swap out with a new part. Would have been a bigger issue if I had a cargo barrier installed!
