Towing with Defender TD5
Anyone towing full size caravan with a Defender Td5 ? My issue is tow ball weight listed at 150kg very low compared to 10% on others. Has anyone found solutions ? We are contemplating selling or looking at other Landrovers.

Where is TBW listed-marked, I assume it would be a lot higher the 150.

For a 2015(I suspect a TD5 would be the same) it says 250kg Max. And they state the obvious that this impacts load carry capacity and rear axle weight.

Unfortunately in the TD5 Owners Handbook it is lists 150kg, I am not sure if it is a misprint as it is near impossible to tow 3500 kg and have 150kg max tow ball weight.
We have been towing a caravan 2280 kg and 220 tow ball weight with a Ford Territory and cannot use the Defender.

What does your manual actually say?
Have a read of this. As I understand it, 150kg is the maximum towball if the vehicle is loaded to its gross vehicle weight. If the load in the vehicle is reduced, the towball maximum can be increased up to 250kg.
- If the vehicle is loaded to maximum Gross
Vehicle Weight (GVW) the nose weight is
limited to 150 kg (330 lbs). - If it is necessary to increase the nose
weight, up to a maximum of 250 kg (550
lbs) the vehicle load should be reduced
accordingly. This ensures that the GVW,
and maximum rear axle load are not
exceeded.

I'm pretty sure the towball rating on my td5 is 175kg. I never consulted the owners manual & just did 20,000 klm with up to 160kg ( I have scales) without issue.
