    Td5 transfer case

    Been quoted $4000+ for a machine and re-sleeve on transferbox .only had defender 8 months already spent $3k on gearbox now this 😡transfer case prob with service and gasket behind fuel cooler under manifold nearly $6000 wow is this too much

    WTF?

    there has to be more in a price like that?
    Does that include supply and install an ATB centre diff, etc?

    No was paying $1200 for general service then told transfercase was going to be another $1200 to fix leak now told shaft has flogged out so needs to be sent away and machined and that work alone is $2000 all up I’ll be up for $6000 .I said I could get transfer case for $2000 but was told I’m still up for $3500 as he has to break it all down and put back together then refit so I’m guessing I may as well leave to them to do as at least then they warranty ....I’m gobsmacked love my landy it’s been a life long dream but slowly turning into a bloody nightmare 🤣😂I’ve done maxi flanges and axles,all coolant pipes ,fpr and loads of other things myself just sent it in for an oil leak lol

    Was just wondering is this extreme or as to be expected considering fair amount of work

    I had my intermediate shaft deleaked for $700 which included a new input shaft seal.
    The case was not worn apparently and they fitted a new oring and also used some strong sealant.
    seeing the only usual culprit for the case “ flogging out” is the intermediate shaft, $2000 for machining seems extraordinary.

    Hmm, I was charged $205 for the case to be bored, bushed and reamed to size, but I did all the other work.
    Can't recall now how much a new intermediate shaft plus rebuild kit and ATB centre diff cost from Ashcroft, it was 4,1/2 years ago now but it came in under the gst threshold.

    Ye tell me about it then remove pull down and put back together and re-install another $2000+.think I’m getting honed too I’ll be wanting to see a complete breakdown

    They have box out ?And I don’t have any help ,space or time really so I’m sorta over a barrel at a loss what to do now .Im guessing I have to cop it just wanted to get some idea as to what I should be getting for y money in way of (new)internals ? warranty etc .And weather as people are saying I’m being taken for a ride (not in my own car ) lol
