To all 2" lifted Puma Owners

To All 2" lifted Puma Owners......

Please could owners of 2" lifted Puma's please list their spring brands, shock combinations, and if you have fitted a double cardan front drive shaft........

I'm in the market, really want to lift the 2013 110, but would really like some recommendations of kits, and if the double cardan drive shaft is necessary.....

I'm looking for a medium load config, more articulation for off road, rather than load carrying capability!

    Thanks in advance.......

Almost ALL off the shelf kits reduce articulation or show no improvement.

Rather than more articulation look at trutrac or lockers.

A Tdci with 2 trutracs will go a lot further than a small increase in articulation.

...and a decent tyre choice. These things are fantastic with stock springs and factory shocks, the puma shocks are gas charged, too. Fitting traction aids like Mike suggested would be the single biggest improvement.
The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

No plans to lift mine, despite the original springs and shocks having done 130,000 kms, but still working fine. It has plenty of clearance and I just can't see there is anything to gain.

Hi Everything they have said is true.

Traction aids before articulation and most lift kits are a waste of time.

That said if you want more off road capability, and why not? the hardcore scene is a heap of
fun and setting up your truck to perform better is a big part of it.

You will need to 'lift' or as should be said obtain more articulation the following will be required:

    • Stronger axles, pegged diffs
      longer shock absorbers
      raised shock mount f&r
caster correction. Rotated swivels are best
raised rear diff ball joint from maxi drive
longer springs: flexi coil f& r are best
      Double carden front prop

If you want to tour or even just do moderate tracks leave it stock, but if you really want to do the hard tracks, do it.
I had a ball doing it for years.
You will break stuff, but you will learn heaps about driving and modding your truck too.
You'll end up with a heap mroe mods tha this though by the end.

I lifted my 130 after getting hung up on the rear overhang a few times, the long range tank was suffering badly. Had springs installed by LRA, couldn't tell you exactly what. If you lift it, sorry to say you will definitely need the double-cardan front shaft. A friend lifted his 110 and tried to get way without it, had to bite the bullet after a short time, the binding UJ causes nasty noises and vibrations.

Thank you all who have replied to my question. It is really interesting to see the different responses to my question. Originally I had lifted my 1997 110 TDI300 defender with a 2” terrafirma kit, and found that the ride was smoother and that the articulation was much better than the original springs and old man emu shocks. I did need to fit dislocation cones for the springs though. It did not have any front or rear lockers, but was measurably better off road than before.

My 2013 110 has a rear Ashcroft locker which changes the truck completely. The suspension is stock. Ever since I’ve owned it though, I have found it much rougher to drive when empty than my TDI. It is much smoother if it is full of gear....makes sense.

Maybe I should also look at shocks?

The lift kit would also help to fit bigger tyres than stock too? More axel clearance is always welcome!

I will take on board what people have said.

I know (and am sorry) that my question is a bit off topic.
    Truetrac or Ashcroft ?
