Td5 defender oil cooler check/replacement
I'm in the process of doing some preventative maintenance on my 2002 110. Oil pump bolt, water pump (it was weeping) , engine saver done so far.
When changing the water pump I noticed a fair amount of oily residue around the weep holes on the bracket. I believe this was from a leaking power steering pump (it was brown sludge) however want to rule out the oil cooler and as its source. Previous owner was also using green coolant so I would like to check the OC for coorosion. I also have the car off the road since doing the water pump so it's a good time to check it before putting coolant back in.
Questions I have
- do I need to remove the exhaust manifold for access (bolts look rusty so don't want to touch it)
- do I need to empty the sump? (I changed the oil not long ago so want to avoid it)
- as I will be removing the turbo, bolts between turbo and exhaust manifold are rusty looking and would like to change when reinstalling, does anyone know what type they are?
I have the gaskets etc in a kit for the oil cooler cover, turbo etc. So will change them.
Any help would be great.
Cheers
