    Td5 defender oil cooler check/replacement

I'm in the process of doing some preventative maintenance on my 2002 110. Oil pump bolt, water pump (it was weeping) , engine saver done so far.
When changing the water pump I noticed a fair amount of oily residue around the weep holes on the bracket. I believe this was from a leaking power steering pump (it was brown sludge) however want to rule out the oil cooler and as its source. Previous owner was also using green coolant so I would like to check the OC for coorosion. I also have the car off the road since doing the water pump so it's a good time to check it before putting coolant back in.

    Questions I have
    - do I need to remove the exhaust manifold for access (bolts look rusty so don't want to touch it)
    - do I need to empty the sump? (I changed the oil not long ago so want to avoid it)
    - as I will be removing the turbo, bolts between turbo and exhaust manifold are rusty looking and would like to change when reinstalling, does anyone know what type they are?

I have the gaskets etc in a kit for the oil cooler cover, turbo etc. So will change them.

    Any help would be great.

    Cheers

Just found your post and noticed no response even though from Sep 19, maybe you've finished your preventative maintenance. Anyway I bought a TD5 110 May last year and put it through a preventative maintenance schedule like you describe before it had serve as my daily transport.
Here's the list of what I did.
    Oil cooler replacement
    Turbo core
    Water pump
    Power steering pump
Exhaust manifold deweb, plane and bolts
    EGR removal
    Provent
    Intercooler upgrade
    Injector seals and loom

Let me know if you have specific question on the oil cooler exchange, some photos of the job which is easy enough but definitely remove the manifold for access.
