BAS remap Puma - Reviews / Updates?

How is everyone finding their BAS remaps?
I’m interested to hear pros and cons.

    Happy with performance?
    Reliable?
Is there any concern with long term durability of the small 2.2 by increasing HP?

I didn't have the BAS remap but the Alive remap through Davis performance in Sydney. Over the years I learned a lot on this subject and it has been covered thoroughly in this forum.

Going by some threads i've read, IT IS MY OPINION that the BAS 170hp tune runs hot in Australia without the necessary mods! By that I mean high egts. Some have had head issues and I'm convinced it's a result of the tune running high egts, however I suggest you search this thouroughly for yourself!

Some useful reading: big money spent and great info shared with numbers to back it up. Puma 2.2 Egt's

The alive tune was mild but if offered great low down torque and my beast was a pleasure to drive. Sure 170hp sounded great but my 110 was heavy and heavily modified so the mild tune was perfect. The thread link above highlights my mods, testing and results with the Alive tune. Think you'll agree there bloody impressive.

The key? You need the correct mods to keep egts under control for reliable motoring!

I’ve had a BAS 170 tune for over two years, replacing an Alive 150.
My heavy 110 Puma has an Alisport Intercooler and hoses, EGR bypass, ProVent 200 and larger Alisport radiator.
I have nothing impeding my radiator.
Suffice to say, I love it, and highly recommend it.
My boost is linear to 25 - 27 lbs as shown on my Redarc boost gauge. I don’t know my EGTs at present sorry.
My engine watchdog never gets above 90 Deg head temp. Mostly around 80.
Fuel usage is good, drivability is far better than standard.
    Just do it!

    Ha!
    Hi Nando mate.
Yes, but I’m also a chronic modder, so if it can improve my drive, I’ll do it.
Ive learnt heaps from your posts though!
    I hope you’re well mate.

Ok thanks. Sounds like EGT’s are most important measure of long term engine reliability in relation to doing a remap?

Does anyone have a 2.2 with BAS 150 tune and intercooler? How are EGTs / long term reliability with this set up?

I’ll let you know next week. Have a 130 with a 170 bas tune. Head gasket failed. Had bas intercooler. With the repairs have installed red arc get gauge upstream of turbo, cat delete. Will retune to 150.
I am fairly sure the 170 tune on long steep hills caused the issues, but you can never be sure.
I will post up my egt temps when I have enough data.

BAS remap Puma - Reviews / Updates?

Any tune on long steep hills without a gear change will have climbing EGTs.

A simple gear change down 1 gear will almost always drop them back down.

Mrs Tombie runs the BAS 170AB tune (of which there’s been a few revisions - always pays to check for updates on the tool) and combined with some simple modifications is a fantastic drive.
