I would have loved to have fitted the 6hp to my XD9000. Some said that by putting the endcap from a 2.5 (no heat sink, plain bearing) that it may fit, but I think the parts didn't actually go together when I tried. I wasn't sure if you flipped it or something which I don't think I tried. Never the less the 6hp is on a highmount now and the ol' XD9000 still chugs on.

a mate has an old Thomas worm gear winch. is that the same as your unit? If so its about 400:1 ratio. well engineered bit of kit. will pull the moon out of orbit but will take a light year to do it. Heavy as sin too.

with the Runva range do your measurements. Their high HP motors are long and if the winch is centred on your bull bar can foul the chassis rail. I am in the process of offsetting the mounting holes and fairlead on my bull bar to fit the larger motor of the Runva range. Will need some cosmetic patching and welding in a plate to cover the old holes and end of fairlead hole.

Yes that’s the one. I bought it in pieces and have rebuilt it. It’s a really well made replacements being readily available over the counter at most places. I’d really like it to fit, in just not sure how that’s going to work. Sad face. I know nothing is actually impossible, I just don’t want to spend many thousands on a solution.

I think that this bumper might work, it’s just not available in Australia as far as I can see.

BUT

My opinion when winching is to keep the winching as simple as possible. Recovery normally isn't time sensitive (although it can be!). If you don't need to add something to the winching system, then don't add it. Minimise the number of components in place to minimise the risk during the recovery, even if you do have plasma rope.

So if you can recover without adding a snatch block, sling, bow shackle and sometimes a extension in the system, then do that first. If you do need it, then use it, but don't over complicate the system.

Got to love a 6hp 8000lb Warn high mount!

I can understand your thinking but i knew we had a big hill to get up and i was more concerned with not burning out either winch, alternator or battery. If we had a PTO winch single line probably would be fine but was possibly still putting the winch rope on the limit.
My winch rope was overloaded during the recovery and will be replaced soon, as I wouldn't trust it for reuse. I also replaced all slings and straps that i had any doubts over.
