    New replacement 130..

Haven't been on here for a while as Ive been out chasing fires with our dozers and excavators. The Utes have taken a hammering (including being water bombed several times) and have performed well considering ( I came out of the bush last night grossing 8.5t in the 130 with a busted mulching head on a trailer), as LR arnt interested in servicing the heavy duty ute market, I bought my new ute today..really the only viable, off the shelf option.. such a shame, but at least my 130 will last a lifetime now..

Yes mate, looking at about $130k on road for one..Ive been working with them during the fires and they are getting mixed reviews with a lot of sensor/warning lights playing up..I like the concept though, great wheelbase, 4.5t GVM, auto and diff locks, but so, so basic. They make my 130 look like a limo!! I also priced up a cruiser, but needed a GVM upgrade and about $95k on road. The Isuzu with a 7t GVM custom tray, 4 post bullbar, trailer brakes, UHF, LED lights everywhere came in at $86k on road..
Ill hold on to my 130 as a ute and use the Isuzu during the fire season..hanging out for ford to release a base model space cab v8 diesel F350!!

Did you consider a Canter?? NSW parkies in the blue mountains liked them better than a cruiser a couple of years ago.

How is the big Merc going??

Yes I would have gone with a Canter, but the dealers are useless, whereas the Isuzu dealers down the road are a lot better in service and spares.
The Actros 8x8 has been towing the D6 around during the fires, its been working pretty hard but has had minimal issues apart from using a ridiculous amount of fuel compared to my other trucks.. Im just in the process of looking at a 6x6 platform with higher horsepower to get running costs down.

Interested to see what you find that has similar horsepower in a 6x6. Highest I have seen is around 300 in a Merc. Mack about the same but too heavy on front axle. Army had a front axle weight exemption.

Yes Ive had a good look over the Tatra.. interesting design with a central torque tube running independent wishbones on all 4 axles, some on airbag..they are also a V10 air-cooled diesel..my issues are only a WA dealer/service and resale is terrible
My current Actros is 440hp, and 120t rated but with constant 8x8, 5 prop shafts, and hub reduction it is very inefficient at getting the power to the ground..having said that it tows the dozer anywhere it will physically fit..
I can get a 500hp volvo 6x6, or MB are looking into a 480hp..They only discontinued the 520hp V8 a couple of years ago in the 6x6..shame
