Strange isn't it. I also have had a 150 tune for 3 years and (Touch Wood) never used a drop between services, except for a **** weak cheap sump plug gasket supplied by a local numpty to my LR Guru that fell apart when it was only 2000 km old.

3L is a lot to refill on a sump that only takes 7L.
Sorry, didn’t completely fill it only just under half. not wanting to completely refill as it’s gonna have a service in 3K.

Even just a different 5/10W-30 Daz.

I've seen one engine not like one 15W-40 and not use a drop of another.
Just what ring material/bore finish works with a certain oil blend.
Ijust put the recommended Castrol 5W-30 in.

I know! Well that’s comforting to know about your 170 BAS! I’ll be taking it back to Andrew @ LRA for a service when due and talk to the about it when I’ll also get cruise control fitted and a look at my A/C.

It reads just below half and I’ll keep it about there as it’s next service at LRA will be in 4K, and keep some oil in reserve of course in case I need to top it up. I’d have to postulate that my engine seems to use more oil when running on the 170BAS Remap, so something to be mindful of. Not sure if anyone else has had a similar experience. Needs more regular monitoring from now on to prevent further changes of undies .
Interesting.....I too noticed an increase of oil use with the 170 BAS remap, I figured that the additional power is causing additional crank case pressures that may cause additional oil vapor into the crank case recirculation system, from the rocker cover back into the air intake....I bet the end of your hose where it goes into the turbo intake has a film of oil in it.
However; the 170BAS goes like stink with a decat and centre muffler removed, a bit too sooty for me though at full load.

Do you think an oil catch can would be useful in this situation?

I doubt it if its going past the rings, and being burnt.
A catch can may be helpful if it has a lot of blow by,but is only a band aid,the real issue needs to be sorted.

The Puma in my sig has the BAS remap, but it was done about 6 yrs ago,so it could be a different tune.
It has always run 5w/30 Valvoline,as thats what the Indie uses, and its never used any oil.

Not the best indicator of misting.
The hoses will have a light coating of oil even if the engine is completely stock.

So Tombie, what do you think would be the cause?

Up past the pistons and out the exhaust in your case.
As mentioned by others a change of brand may see your woes disappear.

If you’re pumping oil through your intercooler then your turbo cartridge is worn and allowing a lot of oil by the bearing. In which case it won’t be a “mist” of oil in your intercooler; it will be a significant amount.
