As a test - not that I wanted one so dramatic, on the way home coming back into Sydney, a driver went up the left lane only to discover a parked car and then proceeded to merge into my lane without looking. I managed to brake and avoid a serious accident. I am sure with the old brakes it would have been a totally different story.

I can highly recommend this conversion to anyone wanting more stopping power in their Defender.

I have attached a couple of photos of the conversion which uses the power steering pump to boost the bakes which are assisted further by braided brake lines.Attachment 166208Attachment 166208Attachment 166209Attachment 166210
I would love to uograde the braking on my 87 County. Could you share the details?

You might be ok with just a rear disc brake conversion.

This company will ship to the USA.

I know with dual cab utes the vast majority of their braking efforts comes from the front discs. Hence rear upgrade of brakes on those is a waste even with heavy loads on board. I take it a 130 would be similar.

Rick just saw your post. Pitty, I bought pads from QFM early last year I think and have yet to fit them to my D2.

    Cheers

Maybe partly the reason most (all?) Asian dual cab utes have drum brakes at the rear?

Ron the reason seems to be that the Thais get a lower tax if the vehicles they purchase have drum rears (I think it means they are considered commercial). Having said that drums are robust and can brake well...trucks had them for a very long time for good service life etc. Cheers

    Spot on.

Drums work better - just lack ability to cool!

yes, Tombie. Nascar resisted changing to discs for a long time because of the initial breaking performance of drums from 200mph. Discs improved to the point where they couldn't be ignored.

Thank you. I've worked with KLR a few times and have had good experiences with them overall, but didn't know they had this kit.
