Think some of the prices are very optimistic, particularly for low-km special editions, but if they get them that's good for the value of ours, so I'm not complaining.

A couple of years ago I went to a Landrover dealer in Concord (Inner West Sydney) for a valuation on my 2014 Puma for insurance purposes. The dealer valued it at the same price I paid for it new.

The vehicle has around 50,000km on the clock, not too modified (ARB Bar/sliders/tinted windows/roof platform). Body is straight. That actually said they would like me to get in touch if I ever wanted to sell it.

High resale doesn't surprise me given how few (relatively) there are around and now they don't make them they are getting rarer. They are also one o fthe few vehicles which aren't too complicated to maintain/repair.

I went with Shannons for the insurance as they agreed to the value. The company I left offered around 60% of the value (based on a Red Book valuation I think).

That sounds right. Judging from what people are asking on car sales.com for similar vehicles, I'd say ours is still worth about what we paid, plus any extra for accessories and service history.

My experience when flogging our 2010 Puma was not that good. Admittedly we'd done a few more than average kays but the vehicle was very well serviced, had new rear half shafts, new transmission shaft which likes to break just when you don't want it to..... dual batteries. snorkel etc. excellent tyres plus good condition all round with no dings.
Took longer to get rid of than our 2 previous Defenders (300Tdi and Td5) but lots of dickheads around to kick the tyres and criticise including one creep who reckoned he could smell something funny in the fuel. He got told to FoxTrot Oscar pretty quick and eventually I dropped the price by a few grand from 42K to 38 and it sold.

There was one listed for $139,000 on carsales.com recently and it sold. Ridiculous price though.
