Where Are the Brake Switch and Reverse Switch Located?

    Hello All,

I have a 1993 Defender 110 with a tray back. Just wondering if someone can assist me in identifying where the brake switch and the reverse switch are located?

I am wiring up new Narva combined indicator, brake/tail and reverse lights units. So far I have left and right indicators. I took note of the positioning of the wires in the old Hella unit that the previous owner replaced the original Land Rover separate lamps with. The old Hella combined unit was cracked and broken - read farm ute. I also traced the supply wires with my test lamp so I worked out what wires should connect to which lamp.

No sign of reverse with the gear selected properly.

I had a glimmer of a brake light and it disappeared. Thinking about it now while I am away from the car ... I should go and check to see if I blew a fuse.... If not it could be the switch - wherever it is.

I also found out that the position of the two mounting bolts in the Hella unit I am replacing with the Narva are in different positions. I have to drill some new holes. One bolt hole in the Narva unit aligns with the previous hole - I used that to mount the earth wire. So the earth is connected cleanly. The second bolt hole in the Narva unit does not align with the previous Hella hole.

    Kind regards
    Lionel

If it is the same as my 97 130 , the brake sw is on the back of the pedal box near the firewall under the bonnet & the rev sw is on the gearbox .

The reverse switch should be behind the shifter. If you open the center access panel on the seat box it will be right there.

It will not be like a 97 which is on the side.
