Puma holds onto revs at gear change

I'm sure I've read about this... but now can't find anything of use:

2010 Puma 2.4 holds onto revs for a second or two after I dip the clutch (and no accelerator) for a gear change. Any ideas why?

I haven't changed my driving style, and this has pricked my internal 'something's not quite right' Defender warning system.

    Cheers, Sam

Faulty pressure switch on the clutch master.
You can unplug it and bridge the connectors in the loose plug to confirm.

    Hmm, OK, thanks Daz.

Would this part have been replaced back in May when you fitted my new clutch (Clutchfix)?

Oh… ‘master’. Sorry I misread that. I can check/change this easy (and was not of course changed when replacing clutch)

    No, it was obviously functioning.
I have been meaning to add that to my Defender parts I keep in stock.

    Daz...

How important is this part and if you disconnect this, will the Puma just drive normally when changing gears, etc?

The reason I asked this is I found that when in Low Range 4WD and trying to reverse back down a steep rocky hill that the ECU use to really fight against me as I was trying the reverse slowly as I can w/o using the Clutch but I found the engine fighting against me in raising the engine rev's, etc...
To solve this, I simply disconnected the High/Low Range Plug on the Transfer Case and this solved my issue that I was experiencing - Just wondering if the same would apply in this scenario ??
