Thread: HCPU Tailgate Hinges

Hi, this is my first post so I am sorry if its been asked before. I am about to take the HCPU tub off the back of my 1987 110. I would like to remove the tailgate first but cannot work out how to take the hinges apart. They appear to have a shaft in them but I can't see how you take those out. Does anyone have an experience with this and ideally some diagrams?

How is yours fixed to the end of the HCPU and tailgate? Should be a captive bolt on the HCPU and a nut to that. A normal nut and bolt through the hinge to the tailgate on mine when I dismantled it.

Edit: Just reread your post. Do you want to take the hinges off the HCPU or apart as in dismantle the hinges? I had assumed you wanted to knock the pin out to remove the tailgate and were asking that.
