Good to see the different layouts, especially any Nth/Sth layouts.

With mine, I don't have the A/C wiring/relays in the battery box and therefore I'm running my 2 N70 size batteries East/West which gives me space at the rear of the box to mount my VSR and Relays & Fuses. To date its been great, but if I every go with Lithium, then I may need to reconfigure my layout a bit...

Running the Batteries East-West makes securing the batteries easier and more solidly

First picture shows some plywood & a timber strip to level the floor.
Second picture shows two N70ZZ and a very old split charge relay (not much room left).
Third picture shows the current setup with a slightly smaller deep cycle battery.

A lot of this was temporary some 20 odd years ago but still OK !

The thin strap across the deep cycle has always worried me in case it damaged the battery but never a problem.

The starting battery is solidly mounted with what looks like original parts, only the auxiliary battery has a home made (by the previous owner) hold down strap.
I had all intentions of improving the hold down but it's lasted OK with no battery damage.
