I would stay away from tuners offering across a range of car manufactures and use someone like Bell HOME - Bell Auto Services, BAS Remaps, Independent Land Rover Specialist In York , Service, Repairs, Custom Remaps York, Performance upgrades, BAS Landrover tuning.
The 2.4/2.2 are expensive to fix and my 2.4 runs perfect on his products. Worth knowing, that any Puma gains a lot by modifing/ replacing the airduct alongside the wing. m

It was the $900 instead of $1200 Field day special that awoke my interest.
I am actually not unhappy with the performance of the young lady. I personally think its a phenomenal little motor, Daily driver is a S1 300Tdi disco.

Makes sense to go to the home of the beast.

Use a reliable tuner and have ECU remapped.

These plug in boxes are outright a bad idea.

Don't do it! all these boxes do is add fuel. Go with a BAS tune this will give you a code reader as well.
You can also swap between tunes when you like.
I would go with a upgraded intercooler while you at it.
Best mod you can do is get a 4WD supa centre dash gauge that will give you real time and accurate coolant temps.

I think it falls under the old addage that "if it sounds to good to be true then it ain't".

From the propaganda I deduced that all it probably was doing was upping the fuel or injector pattern.

I have a couple of other changes such as wheels and tyres that the money would be better spent on first and I still haven't got around to a bullbat yet.

For what is worth, the BAS tune is awesome.
Prior to upgrading the Intercooler I ran the BAS on 140bhp tune, after I upgraded the intercooler I ran it on 170bhp.
I cant imagine how I would drive it without it.

Our 2.4 Puma Defender came with a Steinbauer chip fitted by the previous owner.
It has not given any problems.
From what I can figure as a non-expert, rather than increasing the volume of fuel, what it actually does is to extend the length of the fuel burn.
I am wary of overheating the engine, so I don't flog it.

I think you can always get more out of almost any motor, but I wonder if we should completely disregard the decisions that the manufacturer has made when they chose the final recipe for that motor in that car. longevity, performance, reliability, fuel quality, intended uses, intended users. A Balancing act, not saying we should be a slave to their decree.
I think the same motor was used in an earlier Evoque but had higher outputs.
So I would probably like to know what parameters they tweak and at what reduction in safety margin
Steinbauer is a reputable brand.

It was just an opportunity that presented itself and was checking the depth of the boghole so to speak.
