That said It would be pretty trivial to print up a 3d plastic corner bumper... I agree something might be nice to stop kids getting decapitated.... good for zombies though

If the two external corners are the same, the 3d printed corner/buffer would be a nice project for someone to develop .... accessories!

Murray and I would love some feedback (good the bad and hopefully not too much ugly) as we refine the design and do our best to address the desires of the Fender Fans out there. I've never had a table or gullwing setup until this one so my experience is limited to what I find useful. Be great that others with existing setups can share what works well, or not so well, in their current setups so we can see if they cant be addressed.

    Hi Guys.
Great design and I do like it.
I've been toying around with the thoughts of a gull wing but seeing this ,me thinks that, if I could make it lockable and as waterproof as the rest of my defender , I'd just remove the glass from the standard window and ditch the addition of a gull wing.

    Cheers Glen

I see where you’re coming from mate.
Unfortunately, to achieve waterproofness of the table without a window would require some major redesign of the current setup.

    Nice work,

good that it’s a little lower that the expedition centre version and

Maybe allows one to lean into the car more??

We have 2 expedition centre tables fitted which are doing the job, we’re full time on the road.

This table is considerably lower compared to Mulgo or Frontrunner versions I've seen. To give you a sense of the height of our table it is about 15mm higher than your door handles (prefer this measure as height from ground depends on your suspension setup). I'm a lanky 6"4" so dont have an issue reaching into the vehicle over the table however we are working on a simple mod that allows the table to be lain flat against the body of the vehicle if more access is needed. This will not affect how strong the hinge is in the setup position. And I've put 30kg on it without a problem. Max load has yet to be determined but we feel this is a reasonable weight expectation.

Well if you dont lock it and use the grill style table it would be as dust/water proof and secure as a spec Fender

I can't see all the photos but love the concept! I'd like something similar on the inside of my disco 2 tailgate but that still comes out and goes lower as then would be really good for wheelchair life and not too high.
How much do these tables weigh?

Not sure why you cant see the pics. That is a very good question... Not actually weighed my grill version but not that much ie its not a strain to fold up and down (I'll get back to you will a proper answer)

The design has been specifically crafted to fit over the Defender rear window footprint but I suppose it would be possible to adapt to other uses. Maybe PM me with specifics of width of door and target height of the table and I'll have a think.

To give you an idea the current setup lowers the table ~ 250mm from its stowed lower edge so depending on the height desired and the height of the Disco door/interior sill this will let you know what might be possible.

    Cheers

FYI a pair of hinges comes in at ~2kg so depending on style of table and material used it will add to this.

They weigh this much as they are made out of 2mm thick 316 stainless so pretty solid.
