The key is just a key, the fob is a separate item.
Hi all I am hoping someone will give me some advice, I have only one set of keys for my defender and at risk of losing them I would like to get an extra set. I see I can buy a 2 button remote and get that reset with something like the nanocom but what about the key? Again I seem to be able to buy a key online to get cut but is it just a key or does it have a immobiliser transponder inside, or is that in the remote? And if it has a transponder how does that get programmed? Any help or pointers with how to go about this would be appreciated. Thank You

The key is just a key, the fob is a separate item.
As an aside, if the key barrel on the ignition has been replaced (It happens a lot due to wear) and a new key has been provided with that barrel that key won't open the doors.
Otherwise, the transponder is separate from the physical key.

I keep keys and plips in stock, the key I get look like the original key and come from Amalgamated lock smiths in Brisbane.
If you want a key just call in and grab one, its a nominal cost of $25 or whatever I get charged.
