300Tdi motor - What is missing?

What should be filling the hole in the centre of the photo?

    Thanks

Hopefully nothing, as my motor doesn't have anything in there either. It looks like a blind, unthreaded hole to me.

    Thanks Martin.
Although the hole is still bright and shiny indicating that whatever was there has only recently gone, I couldn't see any loose wires/tubes.

Yes, I just spent hours welding cracks in a rear brake shield which was trying to fall off!!

Mine didn't have them either, but.....

    ERR5034 blanking plug.

I think the hole is the other end of the cam bearing oil gallery hole.
From memory, each cam bearing has one.

I made up a blanking plug from vinyl tubing. That should keep the motor happy!!

    Thanks Scott.
