    On the trip home

Car is running very well averaging 8 litres to the 100, but I have noticed that when I use the aircon I can smell coolant, I was informed the car has had the air conditioning system worked on, it has a new compressor and internal components. I hope it is from the work performed on the system perhaps some coolant spilled on the heater core during the work. Are these cars known to have heater core issues, hoping to hear your feedback.

An update we made it home without any issues apart from the heater smell, I have not had to add any coolant since leaving Queensland so I am hopeful the issue is the result of the air conditioning repair.

If its a Defender TDCi (2007 - 2016, puma) then they are not known for heater cores failing (evaporator) , but i have had a few that the core was blocked and had to be replaced.

other more common but not in numbers to be bothered...
*leaking joint on hose from compressor.
*leaking joint on small manifold behind engine ecu on firewall.
    *leaking condenser.
    *failed compressor.

*the coolant smell may also be a coolant leak in the engine bay somewhere.
*run the air con all the time and see if the smell goes away.
*give the engine bay and related areas a pressure wash down and see if the smell goes away.

*coolant fumes (ethylene glycol) fumes are bad for you
