Far out, AULRO was just barely out of nappies then and AussieDiscoveryII was booming! That was a great weekend!

Thats it. No climate control is such a deal breaker for me for a new car, and has been for the last 25 years. When I checked the 76 out at the dealer, it really felt (and drove) like a $40k vehicle from 1985, but they were asking $90k for it. I was so underwhelmed by it. Most things could be sorted, but thats a whole lot of money on top of that again - rear coil suspension is $30k for example. I wanted comfort, they're obviously targetting rural and mining.
Well, here she is

Drove her home from Newcastle last night and was pretty happy with how she went.
There’s a few little things to address, windscreen washer not working, quite a few dash lights out though main instruments are all good, rear windows don’t function and I guess I’ll find a few more!
But, for $5k, she’s a good thing and I found it drives quite like my 110.
I’m quite embarrassed at my previous questions though, I thought disco 2’s still had same diff/drive setup as defenders but now I look, they have cv joints [emoji15] I guess I was confusing disco 1’s maybe?
Thanks for all the kind and humorous replies anyway!
Most of the kit I’m going to strip from my 110 won’t go into the disco; I’ll be saving it for a future defender but I’ll use stuff where I can.
She’s going to get a workout this weekend as I’m heading to the Snowys to ride at Thredbo and with the bad weather, we’ll be on the tracks up there.
Other vehicles going are solid axle hilux diff locked 2” lift, current model D max’s x2 and possibly a ranger; don’t think I’ll have much trouble staying on point there!
2 vehicles have winches but for the first time in over 30 years, I won’t!
Anyways, here’s to more adventures in Landrovers and if anyone’s out on the NSW Snowy tracks over the next week or so, lmk?
Cheers
Col
5k is a bargain, well done.
Auto or manual?
