The Minister For Finance & Everything refuses to grant approval for the purchase of a winch and off-road bumper on the front, something about ruining the front lines of the Defender shape !! . . . still not happy mind you, and might just turn up home with one bolted on ! :cool:
Had to get 'triangle' 'u-shape' inserts bolted/welded to the chassis mainframe, looks like the recovery points are bolted to the bumper but they are actually structurally secured to the chassis for use with my hand winch.
We shouldn't be getting ourselves into too much trouble, that will require a winch, at the moment as we have 2 kids under 14 months and its not fair on them going hardcore 4x4ing and having their heads flung about; so the front recovery points and hand winch will do for the time being.
They are COR4 Recovery Points, nice solid pieces of kit, but a bit ex-c getting them in from Italy. Also got a COR4 front Diff Guard for a bit of protection.

Pics were taken last weekend, first one on the road to Guthega near Perisher mountain and the others beside Lake Jindabyne where i got to check out clearance with the new tyres. No rubbing on the body or full lock but i will need to trim a small amount off the flares, so pretty happy about that.
Was an awesome weekend to snowboard, Saturday was sunny and had around 20cm of fresh powder, pure bliss!

I had to remove the lip on the flares to clear my tyres,and also had to flatten the original lip on the guards,and also a small amount of trimming.
I think I had to trim the front of the front flares as well.
I notice in one of the pics that the rear of your RHR flare doesn't look like it is mounted to the guard anymore:eek:

Thanks Wayne, glad i went with your recommendation on the Trepadors, as i said before i was going to go with Kumho KL71 but they just looked too fat in the 35" size. Then i was going to go the tall and skinny option with the Interco 35.5 x 10.5 size but they don't do a radial in that size any more unfortunately.
So far i'm impressed with how quiet they are on the road compared to the Nankang Mudstars that were on it and they are great in the wet. I haven't used them properly in anger off road yet but that will come soon.
That panel damage happened a couple weeks back before i fitted the new tyres, i came off second best with a sandstone wall and i would rather not talk about it at the moment :wasntme:
I'll get around to fixing it soon, i can do panel work but aluminium is pretty new to me, ill have to strip the paint back and anneal with a torch before i start bashing it back into shape, i've already pulled it back a fair bit with a slide-pull hammer. Gives it character right ;)
