I think those steeing guards look great. My tube bar on the front allows mounting of swivel eye recovery points, which is in part why I got it.
Any ideas for the rear though? Replacement hitches with removable tongues are quite expensive.
You could try doing something like this that I had on my last 110.
I don't thinks its the strongest option by any means but I had a simmilar problem. Ive seen a few others with this set up. Im sure some people will offer some experienced critique.
There was one on each side, both with backing plates. Id only ever use them with an equalizer strap however.
There is the option of buying a new stearing protector. Some come with 2 10mm recovery points at the front.
Check this one out.

It's available from m-m4x4 - it was best priced winch bar I could find @ 202GBP meant it didn't require GST when landed in NZ and was 400GBP to my rural door.

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the world of land rovers, I picked this beast up last week!
Been out to the glass house mountains tracks once - was absolutely unstoppable. Can't wait to get out in it again, just gotta get off this work site!
Hi bapo,
Welcome to Land Rovers in general, but specifically to Defenders and then the niche group of us who owns 90's!
You are right, they are just about unstoppable and a little bit of body protection and she'll amaze you every time you take her out! Played with mine a bit on the weekend and all four corners "kissed" the soil and mud embankments at one point or the other...
Cheers,
Lou
Ooh, that's not fair, you're new to Landy's and you got that????? How????
Looks sensational, don't forget to wave! You're just gonna have soooo much fun from now on.
When I first said I was looking at a Defender but didn't want a project car, a workmate of mine who has a late 90's Disco said "be careful, they become like the family pet" he was right. Love the old girl now![]()
