of course you should!
This was discussed some time ago on this site - but now RH drive vehicles in England are having this problem (driveshaft rod smacking hole in sump )
LR finally admits there's a problem with the 2.4 defender - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum
and more ...
Defender2 - View topic - Sump problem!
I've had a look at mine and there are no indents or marks on my sump pan, but..
Do you think I should ask Austral to change my sump pan just in case?

of course you should!
Keep a pack of that 2-part epoxy putty in the cab and worry about it if-and-when.
Cheers
Simon
No, no RHD ones have had this happen, yet. Read the thread and linked thread.
But it has happened to RH drive vehicles - see post #29 in the first thread, paraphrased here...
My dealer has just had an 07 Defender in with a hole punched in the sump. The customer kept driving with the oil light on until the engine seized. blink.gif I've sent them a copy of the technical bulletin and will be getting mine changed at the next service...

yep, read that after I posted but my connection and this damn lap top are too slow to get the post deleted, so you caught me out
If it has been raised in a technical bulletin your dealer should change it no questions asked. I doubt they will have stock of the new pan.
from what we have heard it has been raised as a general bulletin... We are going to ask them to change ours on the first service.
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
Hello dullbird - there are extra replies in the first thread I posted - to the effect that LR will not warranty the new sump pan until the old one is damaged. That is also what Austral have told me - great - bring on the big lap.
Here is the Technical Bulletin issued by LR...

Doing a bit of internet searching I can up with this TSB.
Seems like some are getting replaced, don't have to wait for the banging/hole.
I would put more pressure on LRA/dealer to replace at next service as it is being done elsewhere.
