08 Defender Pre Delivery Inspection List

My fender is due to arrive on our shores in a weeks time.

It will then undergo the usual pre-delivery inspection and preparation.

Having spent a bit of time trawling forums I'm putting together a list of items for the dealer to look at before I hand over the cash. Two of these are in the sticky thread above.

Is there anything else I should add that could easily be ascertained by inspection?

    Issue

    1. Security System Code Number Required

    2. Radio Code Number Required

    3. Sump pan modified part to prevent uni hitting pan on full articulation

    4. Fuel Tank Breather relocated to behind driver's side rear lights access panel

    5. A Frame welded or bolted to chassis (latter now standard)

    6. Brake Pads Loose fit causing rattle

All doors latching open properly especially the rear.

Drivers external door handle internal screws done up tight. This creates the stranges rattle that sounds like it is in the B piller. LR tried to blame it on the external hinges being a old design! I found it myself.

Apart from that we love it!

    Cheers,

I know it's winter, but make sure you test the air conditioner out thoroughly. Mine and at least one other vehicle in Brisbane has been in twice for this to be fixed.

Check the support brackets under the rear seat. Mine & Scallops' were both incorrectly positioned (ie. seat not actually resting on one of them). They have to go through all sorts of fuss with ADR paperwork to fix it.

Check the seal under the windscreen panel onto the top of the firewall -mine started leaking there this week-end and I've read many reports of others in the UK doing the same.

For anything minor think twice before giving it over to the dealer to fix. Mine is running at a rate of one problem when it goes into the dealership - three problems when I get it back.
