Jukebox: LOL = Oh bugger, that means I;m old.
For the kids: Perkins Paste - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jock: Looks as if the existing cardboard (or whatever it is) roof lining was recovered in the carpetty stuff, yeah ? Do you know what the actual product is ? Is it like that marine carpet stuff ?

oh, and what does the light mount to ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

The part I used the quick grip on was still going strong when I traded it for the Defender, I think the heavier glue is able to soak/work into the lining and bind it all together.

I'll let you know soon as I think I'll be going down this line with the Defender as well - It's starting to sag all over the place

    Gday

Yeah below the stuff that is there orinally is stuff a bit like MDF but not really its about 3mm thick. To be honest I cant really remember what the stuff is but there is a solid backing. I took it into the upholsterers and they must have just stripped the old stuff off and glued the new stuff on

I cant remeber the name of the stuff, but yeh it is a bit like marine carpet but nowhere near as dense and stiff.

If i get a chance on Monday ill ring up the blokes who did it and ask for you if you like?

When the lining is dropped out, all you have to do is unclip the wiring from the light and then there are two nuts that have to be undone on the actual light. There are two studs that come out from the light and these just bolt onto a backing plate i think that is on the topside of the lining.

I would drop the whole lining out again and take some pictures for you but it was a ***** to put in sorry

    Hope that helps

I had the SIII upholstered in marine carpet, which has worked well so far (about 20 years).

BrendanB had his Defender done with a sound deadening material and then upholstered over that. When you tap on the roof of his car (outside) it shounds like a "dull thud" compared to a "tinny ring" when you tap on a regular Defender (okay it's not a "tinny ring", but it is compared to the "dull thud"). But that wasn't cheap.

There was a post some time ago ?on this forum from someone who had used FrontRunner. It's unbacked and is used as an interior lining in boats and is the stuff often used to line office partitions. I've seen it in boat shops.

Whitworths sell something called "Hull Liner" - - two colours - light grey and tan.
