    300 Tdi - Bit More Go

    gday

    i was just wondering i have a 300 tdi which has done 280000 ks. i was just wondering could anyone suggest how to get a bit more go out of the old girl. nothing to expensive and hopefully something that wont compromise fuel economy.

    i have just done a rear main seal so wont be able to afford anything for a while.

    what would you fellas suggest?

    Thanks for ur help

    Not a huge amount you can do really.

    Wind out the fuel pump and change the intercooler (but they cost a bit) There are also VNT turbo conversions available but they cost even more!

    Cheers

    along with winding out the fuel pump you can mess with the boost pressure setting a little bit by adjusting the wastegate valve rod and then a little tweak on the boost compensator (part of the FIP) will bring it up a little faster.

    Jock ;

    Within the 300tdi Bosch Pump there are adjustment that can be made to improve the driveabiliy of your Vehicle ,

    3 Adjustment

    .Eccentric Cone / Diaphram Position
    .Stop Screw
    .Star Wheel adjustment

    before you set out to do any tweeking , Please buy and install a Pyrometer ,don't set about doing any tweeking without being able to monitor how hot things are getting inside your engine ,

    Also if engine is slightly down on Power have you checked following;

    A) Valve Clearances 0.2 mm on intake and EggZost side

    AIR Filter / Fuel Filter replaced etc

    C) Intercooler / Turbo Hoses .

    If you'd like to obtain a Pyrometer go here

    Maybe you could replace the exhaust with a 2.5" system strate through i don't know how much power you will gain though
    Or you could upgrade the turbo and intercooler, new airfilter, new injectors etc.

    Safest way to get more go.......tweaking the pump can lead to disaster for some and if you want to go down that track..get a deiso mech to do it....IMO
