Dual battery setup in 08 Defender

OK cat's out of the bag, I am getting a shiny new Defender 110 Should get it next Wednesday

Need some help on where to install the dual batteries

Getting a kit off drivesafe, but has anyone managed to squeeze a small second battery next to the original?

Where's the best place for the controller? I'm thinking in the battery box.

    Batteries

Hi dm, I have seen two batteries in the battery compartment but positioned at rightangles to the normal orientation. The problem is the height of the battery closest to the rear of the compartment and unfortunately I can't recall if the owner modified the base of the compartment or bought a low battery. In my 110 I didn't require the back seat area for passengers so I located my second battery centrally on the back seat floor, protected in a battery box and firmly tied down. The controller was in the Battery compartment and the wiring protected by conduit.I think batteries in the passenger area probably need to be sealed types for safety.Cheers, 130man.

Finally got around to getting a picture of the dual battery setup. This was the creation of Sniegy. I'm very pleased with how it turned out and whilst it is limited in size for the second battery, I think it is a very neat fit with room at the front for the bits and pieces that end up in line to the batteries.

No the main is still secured the original way, you can see one of the bolts in the mid-left of the picture.

Simply swap the positive terminals over...

The smaller battery should be more than enough to run the Defender..

Use the larger one to power the accessories

Did you move the main battery further to the left of the battery compartment? If so, how did you flatten the floor of the compartment.

    Cheers,

    Lionel (Yeah! ME again!)
