Its never come up before, but it is raining today, so maybe some spray has got to it. The vehicles driving OK, so I think I'll risk getting the wife to drive it home and then I'll give it a clean up and see if it goes out...
what type of vehicle is it.If it is a d2,it was deleted in the later models and may have been deleted in the handbook.Cant check mine at the moment as the wife is out somewhere in it......

Check next time you switch on the ignition. It should illuminate along with all the rest momentarily as it goes through the self test routine.

Might be worthwhile just to remove, clean and dry it out and see if the warning light goes off.
If this has started happening drain your water trap into a jar and check for water.

My owners handbook states 'FUEL FILTER - AMBER (diesel only) Illuminates as a buld check when the starter switch is turned to position 2 for 3 seconds approximately. If the light illuminates while driving this indicates the presence of excessive amounts of water in the fuel. You may continue driving but shouls seek qualified assistance at the earliest convenient time.'

Yes, this light comes on every now and then for a second or less - no particular pattern - every few thousand kms. I used to drain the water trap when ever it came on but found never found even the smallest amount of water. The same happened in my previous 1999 TD5 Defender and now in my TD5 Disco. I assume if the light comes on and stays on, drain the water trap immediately. Possibly why they did away with the sensor in the newer Defenders. Erich.
