G'day Henry,
You could try Graeme Cooper but I think his is natural anodised...not black powder coated.
Is your new Defender white?
I'm looking for a 3mm chequer plate kit (wings, sills, rear qrt) .. preferably in black. I've looked at rebel4x4.co.uk but not overly impressed with the shape of their wingtops. I prefer the LR OEM kit (see below) but there is no way I'm paying $700 for a few cuts of chequer plate.
Any suggestions .. local or abroad?

The LR OEM older model (pre-07) Defender checker plate is cheaper than the new model. Ring around a few dealers and see what price they will do. Also the older model fits the new one it just encompasses the aerial hole (as in your pic). So the new model checker plate is shorter and more expensive

Hi Mahn - the new one is white in colour, hence the preference for black chequer plate. I had black powder coated ones from Graeme Cooper on my old Defender but they are only supplied in 2mm.
Thanks dm, I will ring around and get some pricing on a pre-07 kit.
G'day Greylandy,
I got my 3mm black bonnet cover from Scorpion Racing but M.R. Automotive at Redcliffe, Qld made me up some 3mm black wingtop protectors.
Cost was... about $155 for the pair if I remember rightly and $65 for the powdercoating?
Don't know about the rest of the kit, you'd have to ask them.

3mm plate is very heavy, wouldn't 2mm suffice? I'm going to get some sheet in the next week or two for this very job, pm me if you want to split the material, naturally the more you buy the cheaper it gets and I am pretty sure that 1 sheet will do the entire kit. Also you can get them adonised or powdercoated very cheaply in your local area in whatever colour you desire?
The Hot pink/chocolate brown look still is a possibility and has not been ruled out completely. The horse float will get the same treatment in the same colour so I have to obey BW with the colour choice.
It would make the chrome **** lights stand out.
Have you watched that movie too?
I would prefer 3mm .. I'm constantly up on the guards loading kayaks on the roof (and using it as a stage after a few ales!) The 2mm chequer starts to sag after a few years of heavy use. Also think 2mm don't offer much protection on that rear corner .. that extra 1mm could mean the difference between a rubber mallet and an insurance claim.
If you get some 3mm sheet .. I'm in.
