Your pi55ing in the wind my friend there is no substitute for cubes dont play with the 3.5 either find a 4.6 or a 4.4 i wouldent even bother with a 3.9 (unless it was a suzi) trust me ya wont be happy with the 3.5 unless ya drive it on the redline my bro has a county 3.5 running 37's and the std LT95 gearing is ok but he has to flog tha pi55 out of it to keep up with my verry tired 4.4 pushing 33's with a LT95 with the .996 high range and both trucks run 3.54 diffs

But the power of the Rover V8

To be honest, the best thing you could do is borrow a set of 33's and go for a drive and see if YOUR happy with it

    Me? I can;t stand a 3.5 on 29" tyres, I think they're woeful, but thats me

If you were local, I;d organise a set for you to try

When you say the rover v8 doesn't have power what are you comparing it too?.They are ahead of cruiser 6's anything hilux's have and my 3.9 goes just fine side by side with my Tdi which goes better than my work troopy,3.0 rodeo or 3.0 hilux and the Prado does go better but it has shorter gearing with an extra cog to boot.LR's handling is 10 steps above as well. Yep well they may well be ok for some and in standard trim there preaty good tho big tyres suck the guts out of any engin and rover engins have allways been underpowered for what there pushing il aggree with the handling yep rovers will out drive most and do it in comfort too but ya need more grunt if ya want to turn bigger rubber im happy enough with the 4.4 in my rangie and ive just picked upa nice fresh one so should be even beta tho id love to shove in a 350 cube or there abouts engin would make the thing just that much beta

4.4's are the lowest level I'd stoop to, its the MINIMUM capacity that ever should of been fitted and that 4" stroke, GREAT torque

Ahead of cruiser 6's, ok I'll pay that, in comparison to the F motor, but try line up a 4.5 as fitted from 92 onwards, and see your ass get smoked

Stick a set of 33's on a disco and on a TB42 Nissan and see who is better of, or better yet a TB42e

We're comparing diesels now? why is that?, thought I was bagging Rover V8's and you were defending them as any loyal follower of the faction should

Handleing? yea, that's why I own Rover's, but that has 3/5ths of fug all to do with a rover V8 being a gutless fuel pig
