defender rear seats suck keep the county ones

I agree, the Defender rear seats are pretty ordinary for anyone older than 10. Great for kids though as they see way more than in almost anything else.

The Def rear seat (actually MY87 One Ten onwards) is a 33/66 splitfold and sits closer to the front seats so leg room is reduced but of course load space in the rear is up slightly. I found the locking anchorage for the back rest very flimsy and while it will go into an earlier One Ten some small brackets/fixings/holes may be needed.

I have never actually measured them, but my impression is that the later seat is in the same place, but appears to be closer to the front seats because the seat is deeper.

Also, don't the rear seat passengers sit higher up in a Defender? In a County they can see out the door window... in Defenders it's more like looking out the alpine window?

Thanks for all your comments, I just assumed that the defender rear seat would be a better and more comfortable option. Maybe I'll have a look at one in situ before changing over.

Wouldn't that depend on how tall you are? I end up between, looking at the roof, too tall for the door window but not tall enough for the alpine window.
