2008 Defender 110 (code named Puma) cargo barrier options

OK, anyone had an update on possible cargo load restraint barrier for the Puma?

I've sent off a query to Milford to see if they are going to consider anything.

Apart from OEM LR006447 Dog Guard (if available in Australia and looks fiddly), what are the options?

P.S. We really need a separate Puma thread

There is no such Landrover vehicle in Australia called the Puma - there is a Defender fitted with an engine with the code name Puma. Just as the previous model Defender had an engine called the Storm and the models before that had engines called Geminis

It is just an 07/08 Defender, just as previous models were called Defenders , not Storms or Geminis .

That explains why I got a funny look when I tried to book my Puma in at the dealer for de-sexing last week since it had loose nuts...

Not wanting to split hairs but there are key difference between the post 2007 Defender 110 and its predecessors and the engine is the least of it. The cargo barrier being just one point in question.

Using Puma seems to be accepted to differentiate between pre and post 2007 vehicles.

Now can anyone answer my question in the first post in this thread?

I agree - then we can all feel smug and self satisfied without bothering everyone else.

No, but they have been known to go by simply the "200/300Tdi" or "Td5" monniker. The only difference then is that the new ones should really be referred to as "TdCi", but Puma will do for me.

Yeah - I can. I spoke to Milford directly and they categorically told me that they were not going to make a new cargo barrier for the PUMA (Jeez guys - it is widely referred to as a PUMA - even stamped on the chassis as PUMA!)

I rang Outback (the mob who make drawer systems in Cairns) - same story - no way.

They both quoted a 2010 end of product line as the reason they wouldn't make one.

Now - Black Widow do make one for the PUMA. But you need their drawer system to make it work.

So what have I done? I have an OL cargo net (like the ones used in aircraft). I have removed the rear sets and have it attached near the roof line at the rear grab handle point.

I'm in the process of making a half height cargo barrier that goes above the seats.
I've bought all the steel and that has cost about $140. Just got to get a spare weekend to weld all the bits together.
I will copy most of the factory barrier bracketry for attachment. Looks quite easy actually and I only have a stick welder but use small 1.6mm rods so I won't burn too many holes in the tubing.

    Regards

Actually, you might be a little bit wrong there.

On the LR bulletins for the new Defender, they ARE referred to as "Model: Defender Puma Diesel" .

    Surely LR wouldn't make a mistake .
