    Seat replacement

    Hi Gurus,
Has anyone replaced their front seats in a defender, if so with what and how difficult was it. My main concern is the removable seat base, how do you get around that?
    any help much appreciated.
    Thanks

Hi Malcolm. I did. Seats need to be certified by an engineer. That should only cost about $100 bucks though.

You will find most seats can do the job as long as you can find a base that will fit. I bought .... I forget the name... They are advertised everywhere anyway. I'll think of it. They were about $800 each

The bases were not the same so wing nuts had to be undone to get it off but I found that they rarely needed to be removed so a few wing nuts was easy.

There seem to have been a few threads on this. Most seem to feel that the existing seats are more comfortable than any replacements, particularly if necessary reupholstery is done. Do a search on seats and Defender and I think you will find plenty of comments.

Stratos... That was the brand. I found them far superior then the factory seats but you pay through the nose for it..
