I have a retro fitted 200Tdi in my county, it will sit on 100km easy even with compression so bad that if parked on a modest hill with no hand brake it will roll over the engine compression . Currently parked up until i get alot of funds for an engine rebuild , luckly i have another V8 county to drive .

Yeah that does make sence.... I will get the guy that did the timing to fix that then save up for British Off Road to check out the engine properly!

I test drove a 200 a few months ago, flat out it did 90,popped the bonnet, wound a good 1/2 inch of slack out of the throttle and it then went like stink. The owner nearly shook my arm off!!!. Pat

I recently bought my self a 200tdi defender and I got the timing belt done a week ago and it's gone really badly since then. I think the belt must of gone on wrongly.... Will bring it back to who did it tomorrow.

But even before it was done it would not sit on 100km/h very well and I was just wondering how well other peoples 200tdi defenders go!?

    Cheers

It sounds like they may have gotten it out of time a bit. Supposedly you can be one tooth off on the cam belt and not have it make much difference. Two teeth and it will run like crap. I did the belt on mine following these instructions

and it turned out great. Any chance you have a boost leak in the pipes or intercoooler ? That would make the truck run like a dog. I have had mine up to 85mph and it had more-just didn't feel safe with 4 inch lift and 33's and several hundred pound on the roof rack.
