    Air Con in defender

Ok bit to buck the trend BUT

My air con in my 110 is fantasic. Had the car 3 months now and had some really hot days here in Brissy. Was worried before i bought it about what i had heard from here about the aircon on them
Been on a few trips in land and on the last one it was a hot mid 30's day and had a chap in the back ask us to turn the aircon down as he was cold .

Even my Neighbour , on a trip recently made a coment that the air con was good in the 110. And he is a real toyota man, and will find anything to poke fun at the 110

So what are you lot moaning about .

Or is mine better because i have a really heavy tint on my 110
It has me a bit puzzled

Mine works fine, really good air off temps.

Something to do with the bloke that serviced it apparently

Must be just your defender- are you running special gas!!
Seriously i think its the tint as i believe it makes a huge difference. What is that below your door- is it some sort of rock slider, do you have a close up

My 2001 110 had great aircon. My 2005 90 wouldn't keep you cool in a Melbourne Winter It's crud.

I am sure the tint would help.

I think they changed the units with the my03. I've heard the Poo-ma has really good aricon.

Will that long range tank fit a Defender 90? And did you get it in Australia? It's one of the mods I'm thinking about at present

Nah it goes where the 300 TDi 90 tanks goes takes a little bit more than the standard one but not alot. Came from Loneranger tanks
Do you want a long range tank or a replacement for your standard tank.

As this is the long range tank i have in the back of my 90 (where the TD5 90 tank goes )

Thanks for the link. It's a long range tank that I'm thinking of to extend the range of the existing tank. Although now you mention it, the existing tank has had fifteen years of exposure to the elements! I'd better take a closer look.

On our trip around Aus our 90 tank (original under seat one) started to leak. This was half way up the Tamini. So we drove back to Alice and got someone there to weld it up for a temp job, He said it would last 3 months tops , That was 3 years ago and still the same tank But our tanks are not really aviable here in aus

Here is them welding up the tank out of the 90

Just put a new compressor and dryer in mine . BRRRRRRRR .Nice and cold .
It cost me $850 tho'. That is with me fitting the compressor etc.Ouch
AC wasnt working when I bought the car last year.
I normally prefer windows and flaps open but with the AC on I can have a convo with the missus at 100kmh.
I also have dark tint on the windows.
Cant wait to try it out in the desert.
