5) Dust - I wish they had put some dust sealing on the holes in the body. Mine has a mound of dust around the fuel filler for example.

6) Body rattles - this one rattles much worse than my 170,000 TD5 does. It hates corrugated roads and tends to slide off to the side. Jumping back in the TD5 is like you are floating on air in comparison.

7) Rear door jams. Which makes it quite dangerous as I use the rear seats a fair bit. With a full load of child seats in the middle row - it's very hard to climb out.

8) Water leaks... I mean Come On. My TD5 had water leaks on the hinges of the wind screen. It went back about 6 times to be fixed. The PUMA leaks in the same sodding place - there is no sealant on mine. WTF were they thinking?

Any one else getting these sorts of issues?

yes gearbox has always done this with us...mentioned it time and time again but they drive it and say its fine.....we get a clunk when going into third only going in not going out.

there has been issues with the clutch on some defenders and I think there is a service message for certain vin numbers....we asked them to check ours and it was fine.

the engine noise and vibration.....yes yes yes..we had it all do a search for problems on here we had water in the fuel and a stuffed engine. doesn't mean to say yours is but our problem had been brushed off at first which is how I believe our problem escalated.....

ended up also having injectors changed in the end and some sensor as we had also gone through 3 pressure relief valves.....touch wood so far engine rattle has not reared its ugly head yet but took just over a year to try and track as we could not recreate the problem and until the dealer ship felt it themselves they did not believe us.

the only thing we have now is surging!! it did this just before the ijectors were changed...and we figured it was due to the engine getting worse and worse with its problem....but it happened again today couple of months later will be costing along and the car feels like it starts to pulse! very very odd....

BB, have you kept your Td5? If so, go back to it and put this "Puma" up for sale before the warranty expires- OR get EVERYTHING looked at and rectified before then.

You can ill afford your tranny to give up, or for your engine to die [water in fuel?], or your diff or anything else to go wrong when you're in the middle of bugger all.

Cmon? Dust sealing and water leaks in a car that has been produced since when??? Maybe the other items can be forgiven e.g. the new engine bay, but the water in fuel, the dust, etc. I mean, where is this car meant to be driven? The supa market?

6000km????

Land Rover Australia needs to check VINs and be proactive in recalling cars to fix common complaints. Otherwise, people like me will not touch them, and people like you that have owned previous editions of this great car will not upgrade.

Ours was quite clunky and at the last service the dealer said the clutch was dodgy - so they replaced it! Everything is smooth as silk now (or as smooth as can be expected). I was quite surprised just how much of a difference it made.

The Puma engine is a bit like a box of hammers when under load at low revs, but it should be quite smooth at coast or cruising.

This sounds odd - I don't have this.

I have a hum in the rear diff when coasting, but it has always been there and doesn't seem to be getting any worse.

Yes, I have leakage around the fuel filler onto the wheel arch boxes. But I had this in the Td5 too.

This is strange - check that the radio is seated in its cradle properly - especially if you have replaced it. Also check that the rear seat pads have not disappeared. The adhesive on them is useless and you will probably need to put bigger blocks of foam under the seat base rubber feet.

Just check that the child safety latch (on the door edge above the latch) isn't in-between positions.

Mine leaks around the windscreen too but the dealer refuses to repair it until I can show it actually happeneing. It only occurs on the freeway at 100km+ speed when the wind pressure deforms the screen slightly.

Any one else getting these sorts of issues?

I went through this with the TD5, it went back over 17 times for various issues - water leaking mainly. I had a few near accidents because the water would leak over the pedals and my foot would slide of in an emergency. But eventually they fixed it. It went back to be stripped and rebuilt. But it took 17 visits. That was when the dealer was located 30k's away in Fern Tree Gully. They've closed down now... I'm stuck with a dealer in the city - which is a 100k trip for me.

To be honest I was not expecting this with the new one. (That it would not be as well built as the TD5 that is.) . If it was not for the nice seats and a/c I would regret buying this one instead of a late TD5.

But for several hundred you could of just changed the seats in the td5 though The a/c was great but not really worth the upgrade price just for a/c. In my opinion.

Why did you buy a new model after all the problems with the td5?

The windscreen leak as with door hinges, the bolts need dipping in sealant before refitting this should sort it.

Isn't it great that the new company(tata) has managed to retain the characteristics land rover has always had? well done Tata ....just be grateful you don't live in the u.k. and your shoe freezes to the pedal in winter haha!
But i hear ya its not what you expect when you lay out heaps of wad in order to get something from new....maybe someone should start noting the issues and conpiling remedies as they did in the old country for the 300 defender.....Also bare in mind if a product is not fit for purpose (in this case not drivable in normal conditions ...is rain normal ?) you should have recourse to consumer affairs, to get a refund ..then go buy a good 300tdi.
You would have thought for the outlay and the effort in re-furbishing the old beast they would have cured the issues not created more !!

why don't you bowl down to the dealer with a jet washer see if it leaks then it should show a similar effect, if not you could always insert the jet washer into the dealers arse and pull the trigger, that may not cure the problem but relieve your frustration at the ridiculous non-consumer friendly attitude of the idiot that illeaviated you of your hard earned cash
