    Defender 130 Puma

Can someone tell me why the traction control is not available in the 130. I asked one of the sales reps at Barbagallos while taking a 110 for a drive, however he couldn't give me an answer.

The 130 doesn't have the option of ABS so thus no TC either.

I have always wondered the same thing, I think in the future if funds allow, I'll buy a totalled 110 from an auction and take all the bits needed for my 04 TD5 130 off, and then sell the rest of the parts to try and pay for the total cost.

....at least thats one of my dreams.......

AFAIK - It's coz of the wheelbase length.

If you look at the different relative wheel speeds between the front & rear axles, there's a big difference when turning corners (even on bitumen)... As such, the ECU controlling it all will have problems interpreting the information and using TC properly.

    ???

Hmmm.... Don't know what you guys get out in Oz but IIRC, you don't have to have TC if you don't want to.

    In Australia - all Puma 110's have TC/ABS - no option. And as stated - 130 - no TC/ABS.

We don't get options here like you do in the uk..

But the up side of that is we do get a very well spec'd car not top, but not far off for base level price
